Easter Cake Stand Centerpiece

Happy Easter! I'm happy today because its Easter {closer and closer to "patio" weather - yeah!} and another chance to relax with no cares or worries for the day, but a chance to bond with family and friends. We already had a nice surprise with friends bringing us a Easter basket of homemade cupcakes - how sweet of them!  Thanks to the Moores - Mom Mary, Emily, Bridget and Margaret!  The girls {the guys we barely see, lol} are terrif! But I didn't do too much this year for decorating but I DID manage a centerpiece! You can turn those CAKE STANDS into great centerpieces - and actually, the Moores gave me this cake stand many years ago for my b-day! Here is how I made it: I simply arrange some faux leaf brances entwined with straw grass around the plate. In the center I placed a small twig basket. Next I arranged my ceramic BUNNIES. I put a small can in the center of the twig basket [weighed down with marbles] and placed a small 4 inch doily on the top of the

Botanical Daffodil by Stampendous

Hello, Happy Easter! Here's my Easter Card this year - in easter-y colours of turquoise and yellows!  The stamp is a recent purchase called Botanical Daffodil and its part of a floral line from Stampendous.  I have it in the wood-mount style.  I love the style and the script title " Trumpet Daffodil " which shows near the bottom. It really does look like those botanical prints!  There are a number of other flowers in the line, and hopefully I will be able to buy those too because I like the style, I like the size of the image and its wonderful stamp to colour - or use in lots of ways actually! Couple of things to mention, I tried doing some "ribbonry" techniques - or really, flowers made from embroidery ribbon methods. I clipped 5 small strips of ribbon in grosgrain blue, folded and stitched them into a 5 petal flower shape. To that I stitched a sheer strip of ribbon and pulled it into a pansy shape - except I pulled it so tight, it sort of lost the p

Your Next Stamp's Mini Flower Fhiona with Basic Grey's Eco Notes

My next "Spring" card is featuring joyful cheery colours!   I started with an interest in repeating a design in a rainbow of colours which is how I made the background for this card using the   circle-encased flower stamp from BASIC GREY'S ECO-NOTES. Your Next Stamp’s  MINI FLOWER FHIONA  was fun to colour!  I am using white cardstock I purchased from Flourishes Inc. as it is a great choice for colouring with Copic markers.  After colouring Fhiona, I cut her out with Spellbinders  BIG SCALLOPED SQUARES and cut a slightly larger red square to layer behind her. Finally, I couldn’t resist a cheery red button with 2 leaves – must have been thinking about apples – or maybe a cherry?  Once again, I mounted everything on a crisp, white card base! The card measures 4.5 x 5 inches so I’d need to make my own envelope {if I decide to mail it} – but for me, envelopes are just a side note, I LOVE designing cards without worrying too much about si

Start Stamping Spring Cards

Spring cards are on my mind because Easter and warmer, brighter days are on their way, hurra y ! So I usually like to do 2 things with my projects about now.....I like soft, muted or cheerful, bright colour palettes. Today I combined green, lilac and white, a real fab colour combination! My first card this week also was a bit of an experiment beginning with a plaid. Here's why... ·         one of my punched border layers begins at an angle and slowly disappears by the card's right edge, ·         also the main focal point, the scalloped circle and the Spellbinders Label 13 die- cuts were off-set to the right side, ·         I attached 3 buttons over to the left in order to balance the design, ·         I turned plain white twine ‘ lilac’ by rubbing it with pastel chalk, ·         using a Stampin' Up! wheel I added musical notes over top of green/cream plaid  cardstock. To make it 'spring-like', my card base is a crisp white, a

Anna Griffin's Poppy Spring Card with Sellbinders Persian Accent

Hi everyone, I am super excited today because I have tons of new toys to play with!!! I discovered ANNA GRIFFIN'S new and beautiful-beautiful embossing folders! Luckily, one was still left of POPPY so I grabbed it { ever feel like you're depriving the other shoppers when you grab the last one, lol, and tuck it quickly into your cart??? }.....so that was my crafting focus yesterday and today. Because its such a beautiful floral design, I immediately wanted to use my chalks to colour it, and to do so I used my AQUA BRUSH.....it took some time but it was relaxing and nice.  Here is how it looked when I was done colouring....soft shades... I am trying to make some cards ahead of time, and soon there will be birthdays, easter....and spring in general, so I decided to use this 5 x 7 inch paper as a card front - and to show off as much of it as I could, I made a wide card!  With white as my card base, I played around with another product which came in the mai
